In celebration of SG50, People’s Association (PA) will be offering 2,000 selected free courses from now till end of September 2015 to all Singaporeans and PRs. The courses will be available at all Community Clubs (CCs) and Water-Venture (WV) Outlets.
You can register for your course over the counter at the particular CCs or WV Outlet that offers the course. As spaces for each course is limited and registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis, you are encouraged to call the CCs to check on the course availability before making the trip to sign up. Online registration is not available for these courses.

For the first time in history, Singapore Airlines will be opening the SIA Training Centre to the public on 25 July 2015 from 9am to 6pm. The event will provide an exclusive insight into what goes on behind the scenes of our Cabin Crew and Pilot training. Come join in the fun and immerse yourself in an array of activities that include an exhibition at the heritage gallery, tours, photo booths, a Junior Cabin Crew Experience, a carnival and a concert!

Getting there

The SIA Training Centre (STC) is located 5 minutes away from the Singapore EXPO and 10 minutes from Tanah Merah MRT Station. As the premises will be utilized for the carnival on the event day, cars will not be allowed to enter.

Visitors are advised to park their cars at Singapore EXPO and take the free shuttle bus services provided to STC.

Visitors taking public transport may take the free shuttle service from Tanah Merah MRT Station.

Visitors taking a taxi can be dropped off at the designated drop-off point at the entrance of STC.

Free Shuttle Service 

Free shuttle bus services will be provided at 10 minute intervals to and fro Singapore EXPO/Tanah Merah MRT Station and the SIA Training Centre. Visitors taking public transport are advised to take the shuttle service from Tanah Merah MRT Station while drivers are advised to take the shuttle from Singapore EXPO.

Please note that the bus ride from EXPO/ Tanah Merah to SIA Training Centre takes about 10 mins.

The Istana grounds is open to the public in celebration of Chinese New Year; Deepavali; Hari Raya Puasa; Labour Day; and National Day.
The Istana Open House is scheduled to be held on the following dates in 2015:

  1. Chinese New Year (2nd Day) – 20 February 2015 (Friday)
  2. Labour Day (Actual Day) – 1 May 2015 (Friday)
  3. Hari Raya Puasa (Actual Day) – 17 July 2015 (Friday)
  4. National Day (Sunday before) – 2 August 2015 (Sunday)
  5. Deepavali (Actual Day) – 10 November 2015 (Tuesday) [TBC]

Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents.

**Other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person.Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road. Opening hours are usually from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

There will be a variety of performances on the grounds during the Open House.

For an entrance fee of $2, visitors could tour selected function rooms in the Istana building and view a special display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister.
There are also guided tours of the Istana building, conducted by the Preservation of Sites and Monuments (PSM) volunteers.

Istana souvenirs are also sold at the Open House. All proceeds from the sale of the souvenirs and the entrance fees collected are donated to charity.

Notes to Visitors:

1.    The following items will not be allowed within the Istana grounds for security reasons:
·         Pointed and sharp objects (e.g. knives of any size, forks)
·         Flammable items (e.g. lighters)

2.    To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all visitors, and to prevent damage to the premises, the following activities will not be allowed within the Istana grounds:
·         Wheeled sports (e.g. cycling, roller blading)
·         Littering
·         Smoking
·         Consumption of alcoholic drinks
·         Pets (except for guide dogs)

3.    No storage facilities will be provided. Security personnel reserve the right to turn away visitors who bring along items that are not allowed.

4.    All visitors will need to go through security screening prior to entering the Istana grounds.

5.    The sale of tickets to enter the Istana Main Building will close at 5.30pm, subject to crowd conditions.
